   Welcome to TonyMarco.com...

    Birthdays, Anniversaries, Romantic Dinners, Graduations, or just a simple gathering of friends; these are the events that shape our lives.  The right food can make these times more memorable and more fun.  This goal of this blog is to give you some simple ways to make these nights a hit.   I will be putting together some of my favorite recipes and organizing them by event.

    My name is Tony Marco and I have enjoyed  cooking for as long as I can remember, although most of the time I really had no idea what I was doing.  I was just winging it. When I was young I would watch my grandmother cook elaborate meals for all the Jewish Holidays.  Then I would try and recreate things in my mom’s kitchen, making a mess most of the time with no clue what I was doing.

    As I got older I would watch cooking shows and try to recreate the meals I saw.  I would also try and make what I ate at my favorite restaurants. Sometimes it would work out, and sometimes it wouldn’t.  Most of the time though the food looked a little like slop, no matter how good it tasted.

   Then in 2004 I took my first trip out of the country.  I went to France, first Paris and then Cannes.   It was there that I experienced the most amazing food in my life, meal after meal.  Everything not only tasted amazing, but looked like a piece of art.  I knew that I wanted to try and recreate these dishes, but lacked the skills. 

    When I returned to New York I started researching culinary schools and eventually decided to attend the French Culinary Institute located the the SoHo area of Manhattan.   I picked that school because it had it’s own French Restaurant that students got to work in for the last 12 weeks of their education. I graduated in February of 2009 with a degree in Culinary Arts and new zeal for cooking.  I have a long way to go but my food no longer looks like slop for the most part and it tastes better than ever.  I hope you will enjoy this site, and it will give you ideas and confidence to create your own food masterpieces for those special events that life is full off.
